NEW YORK - Coronavirus cases remain on the rise at an alarming rate in eight Brooklyn and Queens neighborhoods, where the infection rate is more than triple the citywide average.
The percentage of coronavirus cases increased in seven of those neighborhoods. They include Gravesend, Midwood, Borough Park, Bensonhurst, Sheepshead Bay, Flatlands in Brooklyn; Gravesend has seen the highest percentage of positive cases at nearly 7 percent.
Kew Gardens and the Far Rockaway-Edgemere area of Queens have also seen upticks.
City numbers also show an increased number of cases in Rego Park, Kew Gardens Hills, Kensington-Windsor Terrace, and the area around Brighton Beach and Manhattan Beach.
Across the state are 541 New Yorkers hospitalized and six New Yorkers died yesterday.
Of yesterday's more than 84,000 tests, 1.02 percent came back positive.
There are now more than 455,000 confirmed cases in the state and more than 25,000 New Yorkers have died from COVID-19.
