Did one free Krispy Kreme doughnut not convince you to get vaccinated? Well, how about TWO free doughnuts?
Because everyone knows the way to American's hearts is free dessert, and 39.6 percent of eligible Americans are still unvaccinated, Krispy Kreme has stepped in to raise the stakes. Building on its existing offer of a free original glazed doughnut for anyone who shows proof of vaccination through the end of 2021, the chain is now giving away two free doughnuts to every American who shows proof of vaccination from August 30 through September 5.
The second doughnut in question will also be an original glazed doughnut, but it will be heart-shaped — an "an innovation rarity," according to a press release. The new promotion is apparently to celebrate the Food and Drug Administration's recent full approval of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.
"The FDA approving one of the vaccines is a meaningful step in making people a lot more comfortable with how they take vaccines," Krispy Kreme CEO Mike Tattersfield told USA Today. "And if we can encourage folks, we're giving away a second doughnut next week that will be in the shape of a heart."
Because if one doughnut didn't do it, maybe two will? Worth a shot.
